We are thrilled to announce the winners of our Creative Book Awards 2019!

We had so many really amazing and inspiring entries we decided to include a few runner-ups, as we just could not limit ourselves to the top three in each age division. Thanks to everyone that entered!

Our judge this year is Jamie Allison, District Elementary Teacher Librarian for the Santa Barbara Unified School District. Thank you, Jamie!

Runner Up for ages 6-12

Mapping My Day is an excellent first introduction to maps for young children. The activities in the back allow the reader to explore the concepts learned in the story. Making maps and exploring the world is an essential part of making one’s way in the world. This book puts young reader’s on solid footing and heading in the right direction.

Such a friendly way to teach maps, legends, and scale. Engaging illustration and storyline too.

Tons of hands-on experiments in this clearly written and illustrated book, allowing kids to learn about 33 famous engineering disasters What a compelling way to teach the basics of engineering to young learners.

Students will enjoy learning about all the real-life disasters and the science behind what went wrong through their own experimenting. This would also be a unique way to approach science at home and at school.

Runner Up for ages 6-12

This book/kit is a fun introduction to origami. The box is packed with origami paper, stickers, a two-sided play mat, and a small booklet with very well illustrated folding guides.

We love this concept and see how easily it could be scaled to incorporate other community concepts. The real creativity could come when the preprinted paper is gone and kids are given the opportunity to fold and design their own vehicles, using the folding instructions as inspiration.

If vehicles aren’t your thing, don’t miss Joel’s other origami kits. Every one is a winner!
